April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball star in the US, is among a select category of females who have won medals in more than one Olympics. In Tokyo during the next few days, she'll try to net her third medal alongside the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic Gold. As she turns 39, it could be Ross' last chance to win the Olympic gold. Nevertheless, she remains convinced of winning top awards. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even playing well I believe we can be able to win gold." Also, I'll take the opportunity to try my chances. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and her sister. The athletic pursuits she pursued was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she played in a variety of different sports. In her time as a college athlete, she also played indoor volleyball and track. While she did well at indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her skills were above average. According to her bio in high school, she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) as well as a setting (outside blocker). For her efforts she was named in 1999 as the Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross is currently working with Klineman from 2017 but her beach game had been established long before that. As a matter of fact Ross has been a winner of several major tournaments in her career along with her two teammates. One is a volleyball legend. Ross teamed up along with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's personal trainer. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who was the winner of the world championship together with Kessy in 2009, also was an important player on the an international level. The duo eventually captured a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team and Kerri Jennings won the gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. Together, they won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics of the year 2016. Ross was a student athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to starting her professional career. She played during high school, and even some years before she hit the beach professionally. Her time at USC was quite impressive. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year when she was a teen freshman. In addition, she helped her Trojans get to the Final Four. After her sophomore year she suffered a devastating personal loss and still managed to earn the honor of being named an All-American. Over her final two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the summit netting consecutive national championships. The individual accomplishments of her have established her as a volleyball legend. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the opportunity to see her daughter grow into a beach volleyball superstar. Ross's mom Margie passed away in 2001. Ross was in the midst of being a USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. Ross holds her mother very dearly. Margie is a constant source of inspiration to her, both at and off the beaches.
