Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to by the name Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for the town she grew up in. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father had an ethnically Jewish family. She is the younger sister of Uria and half-siblings Jubal as well as Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her along with their children in Mendocino County California when Ryder was seven years old. In Mendocino County, they did not have electricity. The books on television was her only source of entertainment to pass the time. Eventually, she was a voracious reader. In 1983 when she was 12 Ryder enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. Lucas was dismissed in the year 1986 and Ryder, then just 15 years old, was offered an acting job as a lead actress. Ryder endured bullying while in highschool. Her hope was that acting might change the situation. However, it didn't come to pass. But she pushed on with her dream. It was 1988 in the year Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that she got her big break. Ryder kept playing successful roles in several movies. In 1993, she received an Oscar Awards in the film The Age of Innocence.
