Queen Latifah

Dana Elaine Owens - better known to the public as Queen Latifah, is an American actress, rapper and acrobat. Her work as a music actor, filmmaker and TV performer has garnered the actress two Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Image Awards. She also received a Grammy Award and six other Grammy nominations. Queen Latifah's parents are Lancelot as well as Rita Owens, both Police officers. Rita was a Newark New Jersey teacher, who was a teacher the class at Irvington High School. The couple divorced when Latifah was age of 10 years old. Latifah was a student at a Catholic school and received her education within Newark New Jersey. She went to in the Baptist church. Latifah is her name for stage at the time she was eight years old. It means very delicate in Arabic. Latifah was who was 5'10" tall power forward for the high school team, was always tall. She performed the number"Home" from the musical The Wiz in a high school performance. Latifah was part of Ladies Fresh, a rap group that launched her career in beatboxing. Latifah used to be a part of Flavor Unit - a group of rappers that united around the producer DJ Mark the 45 king. Mark James aka the DJ Mark the 40 King, created an example of the hip-hop Princess of the Posse by Queen Latifah. The recording was given to Yo! MTV Raps Faddy. Dante Ross of Tommy Boy Music was interested by the tune. The singer signed Latifah and then released her first track Wrath of My Madness in 1988.
